Fear Is A Liar: Focused on Today

“…do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” – Matthew 6:34

…do not worry about tomorrow

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” – Matthew 6:25-27

“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” – Matthew 6:31-34

1) Your Value in Christ

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7

“…I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation.” – Philippians 4:11-12

  • You are much more valuable to God than a bird
  • Something’s worth is what someone is willing to pay for it, and God paid for you with the blood of His Son.

2) Your Daily Bread

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.” – Isaiah 43:1

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10

“This then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.’” – Matthew 6:9-11

  • God in heaven is holy and worthy of our reverence
  • We NEED Him to give us our daily bread

3) Your Responsibility

  • We can play an active role in identifying fear and giving it back to God
  • Is fear robbing you of the promises of God in your life?
  • Is fear stealing your precious time?
  • Are you feeling paralyzed by the potential trouble that the future may or may not bring?

Everyday, identify areas of unhealthy fear in your life. Then place that fear back in the hands of God through gratitude laced prayer.
